"Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me, and be my friend." - Albert Camus
It happens like this-and pretty much always like this: You meet someone, you talk a little, and each day you talk to a little more. Before you know it, you guys talk everyday. You are best friends. But what makes a friend a friend? What makes you look at someone and subconsciously decide that you like them enough to talk to them on a regular basis?
Certainly there are numerous components to friendship, but I believe that everything that is good in any relationship is built from respect. Trust, patience, consideration, love. You exhibit these traits toward someone else when you have regard for how that person feels. So, when you're looking for someone to walk along side you, make sure to respect them, and be certain they respect you.
